Kalsion Build Guide: Best Karma, Gear and Team

The short answer: build Kalsion as a Burn heavy hitter around his signature Karma, The Sun Rises Again, a 3-piece Blazing Flame + 2-piece Ruinsbreaker gear split, and Attack Power Up / Critical Hit Chance / Critical DMG as his three main stats. He is one of the few heroes both major English tier lists agree on — S-tier on both rankings, no split — which is rare enough on this roster that it is worth taking seriously.

Who Kalsion is, and why he ranks where he does

On our own hero roster page, Kalsion is listed as "Sun of the Kingdom," Roderic royalty, with a [Royal Flame] state — a story unlock, not bought with a Fate's Invitation (this site's roster heading counts 8 story heroes, while the per-hero records behind the unlock planner count 5; the two disagree on the total, not on Kalsion, who is a story hero under both readings). What the roster page does not spell out is his damage identity: build guides consistently classify him as a Burn applicator and finisher, grouped with Aria, Kalien and Reina in the game's Blazeflame archetype. That single-element focus is exactly why the two tier lists we tracked down agree on him — a hero whose kit does one thing clearly is easier to rank than one whose value depends on team context.

The build: Karma, gear, stats

According to a bylined build guide from AllThings.How (Sehaj Padda, updated 28 July 2026), Kalsion's recommended loadout is:

• Karma: The Sun Rises Again (his Exclusive Karma)
• Gear: 3-piece Blazing Flame set + 2-piece Ruinsbreaker set
• Main stats: ATK Power Up, Critical DMG, Critical Hit Chance
• Runes: Resolve

That 3+2 split follows the general gearing rule our Gear, Runes and Karma guide already lays out for this game — a role-defining 3-piece bonus paired with a secondary 2-piece bonus rather than chasing a full 5-piece set. Blazing Flame is the Burn-scaling half of that pairing; Ruinsbreaker's DEF Ignore bonus is the generic DPS half that shows up across most of the roster's best builds, not just Kalsion's.

A second, independently written source — OSLink's character build roundup (Rainee Walker, 9 August 2026) — cross-references Kalsion the same way it does every hero on the list: not as a standalone entry with unique gear text, but as the named Burn partner slotted into Aria's, Kalien's and Eileen's own build recommendations ("Best Team: Reina + Kalsion," "Kalsion + Kalien," "Kalsion + Aria"). That pattern matters for how you should read this build: Kalsion's numbers are validated across at least two outlets, but his role is consistently described in relation to teammates rather than in isolation — he is built to slot into an existing Burn chain, not to run one alone.

Stat priorities and Karma logic

Neither source publishes exact substat percentages for Kalsion specifically. What the wider build-fundamentals section of the AllThings.How guide does establish, and what applies to Kalsion the same as anyone else on the roster, is a general damage benchmark: aim for roughly 80% Critical Hit Chance and 150% Critical DMG before over-investing elsewhere, and treat a hero's Exclusive Karma as the default pick over a general-purpose one unless you have checked its actual effect against your build. For Kalsion, The Sun Rises Again is that Exclusive Karma — built around his own kit rather than a shared-pool option — so there is no reason to run a Basic Karma on him once you have unlocked it.

Team pairings that use his Burn kit

Both sourced tables above point in the same direction for teammates:

• Kalsion + Aria — Aria applies Burn and Airborne from range as a bomb-throwing enabler; Kalsion converts that setup into damage. This pairing shows up as Aria's recommended team and as Kalien's, which tells you it is a core Burn-team slot rather than a one-off suggestion.
• Kalsion + Kalien — two Burn-focused heroes stacked together for faster Burn application speed, at the cost of redundancy if your third slot doesn't add a different Status Ailment.
• Reina + Kalsion — pairs Kalsion's Burn damage with Reina's Airborne/Gale kit, useful if you are running a mixed-element team rather than a pure Burn stack.

RPJames's "King Kalsion Is SO GOOD" build guide walks through the same Blazing Flame-leaning build in motion, useful if you want to see how the Burn rotation actually looks against a boss rather than reading it as a stat list. A second creator, GogetaSuperx, published a Kalsion Critical Build video that leans harder into the Critical Hit Chance / Critical DMG side of the same stat priorities described above — worth comparing if you are deciding between a Crit-heavy and a flat-ATK version of the build.

What we could not confirm

Neither of our two written build sources publishes Kalsion's exact substat percentages, his skill priority order, or a specific Awakening-tier breakpoint for when The Sun Rises Again's full effect comes online. We are also not able to confirm from official material alone whether Kalsion's Burn application speed changed in the 19 August 1.0.10 patch — our patch notes and roadmap page does not list a Kalsion-specific balance change in its own record, so treat any claim of a recent Kalsion buff or nerf you see elsewhere as unconfirmed until Hound13's own patch notes name him directly.
