DragonSword Astria Guide: Ballista Shot and the Slide

Game version checked: 1.0.12 (10 September 2026 patch). Built from Hound13's Steam patch notes and DLC listings plus the community wiki, named inline.

Astria has been touched by three consecutive patches — 1.0.10, 1.0.11 and 1.0.12 — which is more sustained attention than any other hero on this roster has received. All of it lands on two things: where her shots go, and what her dodge does.

The party panel on the left is where an off-field hero's Signal Skill icon appears — switching to them fires it as they tag in. Official screenshot — DragonSword: Awakening, Hound13 Inc.

The crossbow, named

Our roster page describes her as a crossbow user whose enemies "usually end up soaring into the sky," and lists Airborne as her ailment. Patch 1.0.10 (20 August 2026) is where Hound13 finally printed the mechanics behind that. In the list of skills whose camera rotation sensitivity was removed:

Astria (with dedicated Karma equipped) [Ballista Shot] charge action during [Precision Shooting] mode

Three facts in one line. She has a mode — [Precision Shooting] — she has a charged shot inside it called [Ballista Shot], and at least part of that interaction is gated behind dedicated Karma. The community wiki's Karma page explains the gate: a Karma sharing the equipped hero's trait activates an extra trait effect, further enhanced by Ascension. So the charge action is not a baseline behaviour; it belongs to a built-out Astria.

That also tells you what she is. A ranged hero with a stationary precision mode and a charge is a positional damage dealer, not a skirmisher — and it explains why every subsequent patch has been about her mobility option.

The Slide, patched twice in eight days

Patch 1.0.11 (3 September), Balance:

Astria - Fixed awkward Slide (Dodge Attack) motion when Master Skills are learned - Slide (Dodge Attack) can now change direction while used

Patch 1.0.12 (10 September), Action:

Astria - Fixed an issue where a cooldown was being applied to the Slide skill when (Master Skill) was learned - Fixed an issue where the hero could not rotate while using the Slide skill

These two notes overlap and Hound13 does not reconcile them. 1.0.11 says directional change was added; a week later 1.0.12 says rotation during the Slide was broken. 1.0.11 calls the Master Skill problem an "awkward motion"; 1.0.12 calls it an unwanted cooldown. Either the 1.0.11 change shipped incomplete or it regressed. Not confirmed: which. What you can take from it is practical — if you learned her Master Skills before 10 September and her Slide felt like it was on a timer, that was real, and it is fixed now.

The dodge attack being her tuning focus makes sense for a precision-mode hero: the Slide is how she leaves a bad spot without giving up her offence.

The aim bug she headlined

Patch 1.0.9 (13 August):

Fixed an issue where some projectiles (such as Astria's ranged attacks) were fired in directions other than the aim target ※ Similar issues have been identified with some other projectiles as well, and improvements will be delivered in next week's update.

Astria is the named example in a game-wide projectile problem, which is the sort of thing that quietly ruins a ranged hero's reputation in the first month. The follow-up arrived in 1.0.10, where misdirected aim near placed objects — Othello's [Ice Spear], Cerese's [Ice Pillar], Sion's [Relic], Charlotte's [Clone] — was fixed. If you tried her in early August and concluded she could not hit anything, that read was correct at the time and is now out of date.

Airborne, and who she chains with

Our ailment coverage page puts Astria, Eileen and Aria in the same Airborne group and calls it the most self-sufficient chain in the roster — three appliers means a Signal armed by Airborne rarely stalls. That is the strongest argument for her: she is not the only launcher, so she does not have to be, and she can be picked for range rather than for coverage.

Her faction is the Orbis Kingdom — Kalsion, Cerese, Reina, Astria and Eileen, per the community wiki. Two of that five launch.

Costumes, with actual prices

Astria is the most costumed hero in the game. Patch 1.0.6 (31 July 2026) added Coral Summer Mischief and Sunshine Heartshot for her; the same-day Summer Sea Set announcement clarifies the pairing — Coral Summer Mischief is "Astria's swimsuit costume + Weapon skin [Sunshine Heartshot]."

Checked against Steam's US storefront on 12 September 2026: Coral Summer Mischief is $7.99, matching the other two swimsuit costumes (Reina's White Flower of the Blue Waves, Cerese's Moonlight on the Night Sea). The five non-swimsuit costumes — Ophelia's Oath, Roderick Royal Uniform, Phantom Thief of Dawn, Black-Dyed Vestment, Wild Strawberry Waitress — are $3.99 each. None of it is a power purchase; the unlock planner still applies, and heroes themselves are never paid.

What this page cannot tell you

Her Karma trait by name, her Awakening effects, her Signal Skill names, her skill percentages, and whether [Precision Shooting] roots her in place. Hound13 has published none of it, and no player guide has measured her.
