DragonSword Aria Guide: Bombs, Fire and Airborne

Game version checked: 1.0.12 (10 September 2026 patch). Built from Hound13's Steam announcements and the community wiki's faction pages, named inline.

Aria is the only hero on this roster whose basic attack was rebuilt after launch, and the only one whose skill descriptions were then wrong about it for a week. If you last played her in August, her core string is not the string you remember.

Two ailments, both scarce-adjacent

The clearest official statement of her role is from the Tag Combo Preview post of 1 May 2026, where Hound13 walks a three-hero relay: Castella opens with Break and Stun, Lute follows with Stun and Knockdown, and then "Aria, who loves firepower, stacks Fire and Airborne status effects with her bombs, then hands the offensive opportunity back to Castella."

That single sentence is the source for both of her ailments. Airborne puts her in what our ailment coverage page calls the most self-sufficient chain in the game, alongside Astria and Eileen — three heroes who all launch, so a Signal armed by Airborne is never waiting on a specific teammate. Fire is the opposite: thin, and adjacent to the Burn access that makes Kalien an element key rather than a preference.

Not confirmed: whether Aria's Fire and Kalien's Burn arm the same Signal. Hound13 labels them differently and has never published a mapping. Our ailment coverage page flags the same gap. If they are distinct, she is the roster's only Fire applier.

The 1.0.11 rework, in Hound13's words

Patch 1.0.11 (3 September 2026) gives her three lines in its Balance section — more than any hero except Tarte:

- Basic attack changed from 5-hit to 3-hit - Final basic attack now ends more quickly - When switching to another hero while using [Air Bomb], the bomb is now thrown immediately

Read those together and the intent is legible. A five-hit basic chain on a hero whose value is stacking two ailments and handing off is a commitment; cutting it to three hits with a faster recovery shortens the window where you are locked out of switching. The [Air Bomb] change closes the other half of the same problem: previously, tagging out mid-cast presumably ate the bomb. Now the bomb goes out and you leave. For a tag-team game built on Switching Signals — the combat guide explains why that matters — this is a quality-of-life change disguised as a balance note.

She was one of six heroes in that pass. Hound13's 28 August patch preview names them: "Hero balance (Tarte, Lute, Aria, Roxy, Astria, Kalsion)."

The description that lagged the patch

Patch 1.0.12 (10 September 2026), Localization section:

Fixed an issue where the description of the number of attacks that fire [Bomb Arrows] in Aria's basic attack skill description was not being updated.

So for the week between 3 and 10 September, the game told you a hit count it was no longer doing. Two things worth taking from that. First, [Bomb Arrows] is the name of her basic attack skill — the only basic-attack skill name Hound13 has printed for any hero, which finally explains "bombs" on a character the roster page lists under area firepower. Second, this is a live argument for the warning in the player-measured Damage 101 guide we quote on our Lute page: displayed skill numbers in this game are not automatically current.

The camera note, and why it is a real change

Patch 1.0.10 (20 August 2026) removed camera rotation sensitivity changes on a list of specific hero skills. Aria's entry is [Air Bomb] — the same skill 1.0.11 then touched. She shares that list with Alex, Astria, Castella, Dana, Johnny, Ornette and Tarte.

If you played her before 20 August and felt the camera go heavy mid-bomb, that was deliberate and it is gone.

Where she sits on a team

Her faction is Johnny's Mercenaries — Lute, Johnny, Castella and Aria, per the community wiki — which is also the exact cast of Hound13's own tag-combo demonstration. That is the closest thing to an officially endorsed team in this game, and it is worth noting that it was built to show ailment breadth, not damage: Break, Stun, Knockdown, Fire and Airborne across three bodies.

Her unlock is an Exchange purchase at the flat price every Exchange hero costs — one Fate's Invitation, per our unlock planner. Since price carries no information here, the question is only whether you need a second launcher or a Fire source.

What this page cannot tell you

Her Karma trait, her Awakening effects, her Signal Skill names, her Active Skill list beyond [Air Bomb] and [Bomb Arrows], and her post-1.0.11 hit numbers. Nobody has published measured skill percentages for her the way one player did for Lute and Dana. Until someone does, the honest position is that the in-game numbers are the only numbers, and 1.0.12 is a reminder to re-read them after every patch.
