Valheim Mistlands: Mist Gear, Cores and Eitr

Scope: Vanilla standard survival; world modifiers, mods and later patches may change the rules

Language: English中文

Key points

  • The first problems are not seeing and not moving well — sort mist clearing before you think about replacing gear.
  • Portable mist-clearing tools serve movement; fixed installations help on routes you use often. Neither makes the biome transparent.
  • Infested mines are an important source of black cores and seal-related fragments, and black cores are tied to new workstations.
  • Do not attack Dvergr or break their buildings casually, and keep refining equipment away from your living area.

The first problems in the Mistlands are not seeing and not moving well, not replacing all your gear. Get your mist-clearing tools sorted, then explore in short steps along a route you can retrace. The cliffs and ravines here wreck your sense of distance: a short gap on the map can mean a long detour on foot.

Sort out mist clearing first

Yagluth's drop is connected to wisp fountains and the mist-clearing items that follow. Portable mist-clearing tools and fixed installations do different jobs — the biome is described on the Mistlands page. The first serves movement, the second helps you establish routes you use often, but neither should be read as making the whole biome transparent.

Set up a return point on the coast first, then mark entrances, cliff edges and places you can rest one at a time. On a first scouting trip, carry a small, deliberate load rather than trying to haul ore at the same time.

In dungeons, look for black cores and progression materials

Infested mines are an important source of black cores and the seal-related fragments — see the points of interest page. Clear them section by section and watch for branches and rooms you might miss. It is completely normal for one dungeon not to give you everything, so record what you have cleared to avoid searching the same corner twice.

Black cores are tied to new workstations. When materials are short, decide whether this round needs physical gear or the magic chain, and unlock the part that serves what you are doing now — instead of spreading scarce materials across several goals you cannot finish.

Keep sap and eitr refining separate in your head

Glowing roots, sap extraction and later refining are connected but distinct steps. Extraction also involves the Dvergr extractor — see Sap extractor. Getting one new material does not mean all the downstream equipment is in place, so walk down the recipe chain and check what is missing.

Do not casually attack Dvergr or break their buildings and containers; it can turn them hostile. Assess the site first, then decide how to get the resources. Turning a whole neutral outpost into a pursuing force makes a first trip dramatically harder.

Do not put production equipment next to your bedroom

Refining equipment can endanger nearby structures while running, so give it its own space — see Eitr refinery. Test it in a separated processing area, confirm the routes for feeding and maintaining it, and only then expand.

The magic route also needs food that provides eitr. After you unlock a staff, practise casting, recovery and movement somewhere familiar; do not swap weapons without swapping your supplies and then walk into a high-pressure dungeon.

One check before you prepare for the Queen

You should be able to return to the mines that matter, keep producing the materials your workstations need, hold enough seal fragments, and have a plan for close-range enemies and awkward terrain. If every trip still ends in an improvised run for your life, improve your mist clearing and outpost routes first. The most effective upgrade in this stage is usually a route home where you no longer get lost.
