Valheim Eternal Pyre: Recipe, Embers and Uses

Scope: Vanilla standard survival on the 1.0 release branch; recipe and spawn numbers come from the community wiki, not from official patch notes

Language: English中文

Key points

  • The Eternal Pyre is a build piece listed in the official Valheim 1.0 patch notes (9 September 2026), not a place you find in the world.
  • Per the community wiki, the recipe is 10 Stone and 1 Kindled Ribs (Fader Relic in the official 1.0 notes) plus a Stonecutter; the wiki lists five ribs per Fader kill.
  • Per the wiki, it attracts up to three Ember spirits at a time, and each one you pick up gives 1 Embers; unlike the Wisp Fountain it does not need darkness.
  • The wiki lists Embers as an ingredient of Ember Charges and the Snow Shovel; no source we checked lists warmth, cooking or comfort for the pyre.

The Valheim Eternal Pyre is a base piece you build yourself; the official 1.0 patch notes (9 September 2026) list it by name. Per the community-run Valheim Wiki, it costs 10 Stone and 1 Kindled Ribs (the item the official 1.0 notes still call Fader Relic), needs a Stonecutter, and attracts Embers rather than acting as a campfire.

Which update added the Eternal Pyre, and is it live?

It is live in the full release. Iron Gate's Valheim 1.0 patch notes list "Misc: Eternal Pyre" under Build Pieces & Furniture, with "Material: Embers" and "Bomb: Ember Charge" in the same patch notes. The Steam store page gives the release date as 9 September 2026, so this is the default branch and not a Public Test build.

That is where official confirmation stops. The notes confirm that these entries exist, plus one line under Misc, "Updated functionality for Fader Relic"; they give no recipe, drop count or spawn rate. Every number further down this page is the community-run Valheim Wiki's figure and is marked as such.

A new patch may not reach every platform on the same day. The posts for patches 1.0.14 to 1.0.17 each say "the patch will require a few days to get uploaded to all platforms", and that crossplay "will still remain functional" in the meantime.

Where do you find the Eternal Pyre?

You do not find it; you place it. The official notes file it under Build Pieces & Furniture, and the community-maintained Valheim Wiki page for the Eternal Pyre classes it as a base structure in the Crafting category, with a Stonecutter as its source station. Nothing in the patch notes or on the wiki describes a naturally generated pyre in any biome.

The only part tied to a biome is the key material: the wiki's Kindled Ribs page says it drops from the Ashlands boss in the Fader fight. Whether any biome blocks placement is not confirmed: neither source lists a biome restriction. The same wiki page marks Kindled Ribs as teleportable, so you can carry them home through a portal and build at your main base.

What does the Eternal Pyre cost to build?

The wiki lists two materials and one required station; the official notes give no recipe. A wiki edit note dated 27 September 2026 says the infobox's support, comfort and rain damage fields were checked against the game build. That note does not cover the recipe, so treat the numbers below as community-sourced, not official.

RequirementAmount (per the wiki)Where it comes from (per the wiki)
Stone10Basic building material
Kindled Ribs1Fader drops 5 on defeat
StonecutterRequired to buildCrafting station

Going by the wiki's five ribs per kill, one Fader kill covers five pyres.

The item name needs a note. The official 1.0 patch notes say only "Updated functionality for Fader Relic", and no official post up to patch 1.0.17 announces a rename. Editors on the two community wikis moved their pages to Kindled Ribs on 19 September and 1 October 2026; the later edit summary reads "Item drop renamed for version 1.0", and the Valheim Wiki says the item was known as Fader Relic before the Deep North update and had no use. So Kindled Ribs is the name the community wikis use now, and Fader Relic is the only name in Iron Gate's announcements; no official source confirms which one the game itself shows. For items added or changed in 1.0, this page uses the English names from the patch notes and the wiki. If you have old Fader drops in a chest, check them against the current build menu; our crafting and repair guide covers recipes that do not show up.

The wiki also lists 100 durability, stone support, and rain damage for the piece. It does not list a fuel.

How do you collect Embers from it?

According to the wiki, each Eternal Pyre attracts Ember spirits with a 50% chance every 5 seconds, up to 3 spirits at a time, and each spirit can be picked up for 1 Embers. It works like the Wisp Fountain from the Mistlands, which the wiki says adds one Wisp every 30 seconds and only while it is dark.

The wiki's pyre page says it does not need darkness, which would let it work through the day. Embers weigh 0.5 and stack to 50 per the wiki's item page. The exact interaction prompt and whether wind or a roof changes the spawn rate are not confirmed.

What are Embers used for?

The official notes only name the material. The wiki's Embers page says it gates the start of the Deep North progression and lists two recipes, and both matter before you settle in the north. Every cell in this table is wiki data.

ItemStationRecipeUse listed on the wiki
Ember Charge (makes 10)Workbench level 12 Seal Pelt, 1 EmbersBlows up Petrified Gammeltrolls for Petrified Tissue
Snow ShovelBlack Forge level 35 Finewood, 4 Flametal, 2 EmbersClears Deep North snow so you can build

The wiki also says Petrified Tissue turns into Bloodgold at a Blast Furnace, and that Bloodgold feeds the Intricate Key chain. On the official side, the notes state the snow rule in their own words, "best clear it away before you can build", and list "Tool: Snow Shovel" without saying what it does. By the two wiki recipes, three Embers cover one Snow Shovel and ten Ember Charges, which is a reasonable first target.

Seal Pelt is the catch. The wiki says Seals live on the Deep North shore, so the first batch of charges needs one scouting trip north before you can craft it.

Is the Eternal Pyre a campfire?

No source we checked treats it as one. The wiki infobox gives a single effect, "Produces Embers", marks the piece as a light source, and leaves its comfort field empty. Compare that with the two pieces players confuse it with; all three rows are taken from the wiki's page for each piece.

PieceRecipeWhat it doesComfort listed
Eternal Pyre10 Stone, 1 Kindled RibsProduces Embers; light sourceNone listed
Campfire5 Stone, 2 WoodWarmth, cooking, sleeping; burns WoodFire 1
Wisp Fountain10 Stone, 1 Torn SpiritProduces Wisps when darkNone listed

Warmth, cooking, and a comfort bonus from the Eternal Pyre are all not confirmed, so keep a real fire for your Rested buff. The same goes for respawning: no source lists the pyre as a spawn point or as a quest object. The wiki lists rain damage for the pyre, the same as for the Wisp Fountain.

What should you do with it first?

If the wiki's numbers hold, keep all five Kindled Ribs after the kill and build one pyre at the base that already has your Stonecutter. Collect at least three Embers before you sail, since the wiki puts the Snow Shovel at a level 3 Black Forge and not at a Deep North station. Then treat Ember Charges as a second step once you have Seal Pelts. From there, the Deep North route covers the rest of the trip, the Fader guide covers the fight the wiki ties the material to, and the Intricate Key guide covers the key chain.
