Bongo Cat Hats and Skins: Rarity and Sources

Bongo Cat hats and skins drop from chests at five official odds, from Common at 90% down to Legendary at 1 in 500000. A sixth tier, Unique, cannot drop at all. For anything rare, chests are only one route: the exchange, limited events, the Paw Pass, multiplayer, achievements and supporter packs all add items.
What are the rarity tiers and drop odds?
The chest odds come from the Steam store page, under "Item drop pool chances", with the note "Subject to change". The Unique tier was added in the September 2026 update.

The "Roughly" column is plain arithmetic on the store percentages, not an extra official figure. The practical reading: a Rare is something you will see from chests over weeks of play, while Epic and Legendary mostly come through the exchange or from other players.

The achievement rewards come from the anniversary update, which says "Not all achievements will give you new cosmetics, but the new tap amount ones will." The 1 million clicks reward was originally set at 5 million and "edited back down".
Collaboration rules changed in June 2026: rewards for wishlisting or trying other games were removed or moved to owning the full game, because the developer found they were "against Steam Guidelines". Rewards tied to buying a partner game are a different case: Tap Tap Loot's launch post promised four items (Goo Cat, Jester Hat, Bunny Ears and Bunny Skin) to everyone who buys it.
Which supporter packs and DLC can you buy?
Single supporter items are sold in the Item Store; on September 29, 2026 the US store listed single skins and hats such as Bumble Kitten, Meowxolotl, Yin and Hades at $2.50 each, and a Paw Pass Token at $4.99. Since April 2026 the packs are also sold as DLC (announcement):

None of these are needed for chests. Note that Item Store purchases cannot be resold: in May 2025 the developer "Made the item store items non marketable" (patch notes).
How do you track what you are still missing?
Open the collection, also called the BongoDex. It shows collection progress, and since January 2026 you can click any cosmetic there to preview it on your cat before you own it (update). The September 2026 update added a search bar to the BongoDex and a filter and sort window in the inventory. Empty event collections are hidden to keep the list short.
This page does not list the rarity of each individual hat. The store page only publishes tier odds, and the full item definitions are not public without an API key, so a per-item table would rest on third-party lists. For the achievements that award items, see the achievements table.
