Phasmophobia costs $19.99 on the US Steam store and runs on Windows there, with VR supported through OpenXR. The developer's posts also list PlayStation 5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X/S as live platforms, with optional crossplay between them and PC. The console date comes from the developer's October 2024 post: "We'll be releasing the game on PS5, PSVR2 and Xbox Series X/S on October 29, 2024 at 6PM UTC." We cite it as the announced date; later notes, such as the November 2025 map release going "live across all platforms - Steam, PS5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X/S", confirm those versions exist.

Switch 2 was first announced for 2026 at The Game Awards in December 2025. The June 2026 delay post changed that: 1.0 moves "to the second half of 2027" and "The game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time too." The rest of that plan is on our roadmap page.

How much does Phasmophobia cost?

On October 10, 2026 Steam's API returned a US price of $19.99 with a 0% discount. That matches what the developer said in a July 2024 console FAQ: "We will be increasing the price of Phasmophobia on all platforms later this year to $19.99, due to the amount of content and playtime added since the start of early access we feel this is a fair increase."

Three related points from official text:

  • Game Pass. The same FAQ says: "Currently we have no plans to be on Xbox Game Pass." That is the only mention of Game Pass in the official Steam announcement feed.
  • A future price change is possible. The store's Early Access section says "The price will likely change upon final release out of early access however we will always give players enough warning before we make any pricing changes."
  • Cosmetics use in-game currency. The May 2026 update notes say "All cosmetics are either unlockable in-game or purchased with in-game currency."

The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings and Steam prices outside the US are not covered, so treat $19.99 as the US Steam price only.

What are Phasmophobia's PC system requirements?

Both columns require a 64-bit processor and operating system. One practical footnote from the June 2026 patch notes: players "on Windows 7/8 or other out-of-date Windows installs may need to run Windows Update (and restart) for voice chat to connect", because of a security certificate change on the voice servers.

Does Phasmophobia have crossplay?

Yes, and it is optional. The official site's game page says "Team up online with up to four players, cross-platform", and the developer's October 2024 notes introduced "optional cross-play" so that "PC and console players can team up seamlessly across platforms". Three details are on record:

  1. Updates ship together. "Future updates for the game will be released on all platforms simultaneously to ensure that cross-play is always available."
  2. You can see who is on what. Players "can see which platforms their teammates are playing on by the icon displayed on their ID card".
  3. Turning it off narrows event leaderboards: "If crossplay is turned off, only players on the same platform will be displayed on the event leaderboard."

The store page adds that Phasmophobia "supports all players together, play with your friends with any combination of input types".

Steam counts 54 achievements; the full table is on our achievements page. Steam lists 28 supported languages, and English is the only one marked with full audio support.

Voice recognition has its own language story on console. When it reached PlayStation 5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X/S in early 2025, seven languages were supported at release: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese, with "a full range of languages" promised for a following update. Whether that expansion shipped is not stated in the notes we read.

Does Phasmophobia run on Steam Deck?

Valve's compatibility report for the game returns category 2 and five test results. We list the result identifiers as Steam returns them, without translating the category number into a label the endpoint does not print.

That last identifier sits oddly next to a June 2025 patch note, "Phasmophobia will now be able to load on Steam without an internet connection." Which holds on a Deck today is not stated in the report. Seasonal content is a clearer case: since 2024 events "will require an online connection to play any event content".

Is Phasmophobia still in Early Access?

Yes. Steam still tags it Early Access, more than six years after the September 18, 2020 launch. Steam rated the game Very Positive on October 10, 2026: 94% positive across 840,982 reviews in all languages (appreviews API). The store page's own badges that day read 94% of 360,078 reviews in the viewer's language filter and 89% of about 2,490 reviews in the last 30 days; these counts change daily.

One thing on the store page is out of date. Its Early Access answer still says the plan is "a full release in the second half of 2026", while the developer's June 2026 post moved 1.0 to the second half of 2027.
