Scope: The 16 numbered versions posted in the official Steam announcement feed between March 3 and October 7, 2026, read on October 10, 2026; dates are Steam post timestamps in UTC and nothing here was re-tested in game
Key points
- The latest patch is v0.19.1.0, posted on Steam on October 7, 2026: it prepares the Crimson Eye event and adds a Seasonal Event toggle for event maps.
- 2026 so far: the 6 Tanglewood Drive rework (v0.16.0.0), the Player Character Update (v0.17.0.0), the 13 Willow Street rework with a new ghost, the Deildegast (v0.18.0.0), and Quality of Life Part 2 (v0.19.0.0).
- Since v0.19.0.0, picking the ghost type in a Custom Difficulty sets the multiplier to 0, and 0-multiplier games no longer count towards achievements or leaflets.
- The next major update is the move to Unity 6, which the October 7 notes say is scheduled for November.

The latest Phasmophobia patch is v0.19.1.0, posted on Steam on October 7, 2026. It prepares the game for the Crimson Eye event and adds a toggle for event maps. Earlier in 2026 came two map reworks, the Player Character Update, a new ghost called the Deildegast and two Quality of Life updates. Next is Unity 6, scheduled for November.
What is the latest Phasmophobia patch?
It is Phasmophobia v0.19.1.0. The official patch notes call it a "small update" that is "in preparation for Crimson Eye, launching 8th October 2026". Two things are new:
- Crimson Eye, the Halloween event. Dates, locations and rewards are on our Crimson Eye 2026 page.
- A Seasonal Event toggle. In the developer's words, "we have implemented a toggle that allows players to turn on/off the event maps for their session", for this event and future ones.
It also fixes the revive light flashing instead of fading, and an Easter Egg reward that might not unlock "despite a 0x multiplier being active and the reward pop up being displayed". Two known issues are listed: lampposts outside 6 Tanglewood Drive may glow (the official-site version adds "XBOX & Steam only"; the Steam post omits that), and "The Fusebox location will not be hidden on the Truck map when playing on a custom difficulty."

What did Phasmophobia's two Quality of Life updates change?
Phasmophobia's developer split the Quality of Life work in two "due to the sheer number of fixes & improvements". Part 1 shipped with the 13 Willow Street rework on July 21 and Part 2 as v0.19.0.0 on August 25.
| Area | Part 1 (v0.18.0.0) | Part 2 (v0.19.0.0) |
|---|---|---|
| Controls | PC players can switch Equipment with the 1, 2, 3 and 4 keys; a Watch keybind defaults to H on keyboard and Left DPAD on a controller | Pressing Use with a lit Tier 1 Firelight (the Steam post's wording; the official-site version says Igniter) uses another without waiting for the animation |
| Evidence | A separate photo of an EMF Level 5 reading; Photo Cameras get the highlight frame Video Cameras had | Cameras and Sound Recorders indicate Duplicate evidence; the Journal shows other players' Evidence and Ghost Type selections |
| Speed | Use animations can be cancelled by pressing Use again; grab, drop and door hand animations removed "to speed up gameplay" | Voice chat cuts out as soon as you die in the animation, rather than at the end |
| Maps | 13 Willow Street visual overhaul; original layout remains | New Restricted variants of Prison, Brownstone High School and Point Hope; the Truck moved closer to the main entrance on Brownstone High School and Prison |
| Custom games | Any Media counts for the Apocalypse challenge, not only a photo | Ghost Type can be selected, which sets the multiplier to 0 |
| VR | Instant turning, belt improvements, new animations | A new VR character rig; the preview described it as "completely replacing" the old one |
One week after Part 1, a hotfix changed how hotkeys map to what you carry: "Items and Equipment will now be assigned a slot in the order they are picked up from 1-3. Flashlights will no longer be locked to 1. Igniters will default to 4." If you are setting up controls for the first time, our how to play guide has the full key table.
Part 2 also changed Phasmophobia's progress rules. The notes say "Custom Difficulties with a 0 multiplier will no longer contribute towards any progress, such as achievements and leaflets." What that means for trophy hunters is covered on the difficulty page and the achievements list.
What happened with Phasmophobia's Player Character Update?
Phasmophobia version 0.17.0.0 on May 5 added 12 new character models, six male and six female, a Customisation shop, new animations and a Watch that shows sanity and elapsed contract time. It also removed the death room and moved Flashlights to the left hand.
Six days later the developer opened the v0.17.1.0 notes with an apology: "We want to start today by apologising for our Player Character Update that launched last week. It's clear we missed the mark on this". The follow-up patches walked several things back:
- v0.17.1.0 removed the inventory swapping animation, placed Salt at the start of its animation, and made Prestige cosmetics free once unlocked.
- v0.17.1.4 reverted "the line of sight ghost speed accelerations implemented in the Player Character Update" to their original state and brought back the VR belt.
- v0.18.0.0 removed the hand animations for grabbing, dropping and moving doors, and made the Journal animation "significantly faster".
The June 24 post went further: "The Player Character Update did not meet the standards we set for ourselves or the expectations you have for the game." A second Player Character update is on the roadmap.

Which ghost changes are in the 2026 Phasmophobia notes?
| Ghost | Change | Version |
|---|---|---|
| Deildegast | New ghost; a higher chance to appear "for the first few weeks following release" | v0.18.0.0 |
| All ghosts | Line-of-sight speed accelerations from the Player Character Update reverted | v0.17.1.4 |
| Kormos | Fixes for detecting dead players, hearing players through Incense, and kills through walls and floors | v0.17.1.1 to v0.18.0.0 |
| Obake | Its shapeshift now counts towards the Ghost video objective | v0.18.0.0 |
| Yurei | Fixed a bug that let all Ghost types mimic the Yurei's door ability | v0.18.0.0 |
| Oni | Singing event fixed to drain the intended 20% instead of 10% | v0.19.0.0 |
The Phasmophobia notes give the Deildegast's name and nothing else: no evidence, no abilities. We have not added either from other sites. The Kormos appears in these notes only inside bug fixes, so the posts we read do not say when it was added.
What comes after Phasmophobia v0.19.1.0?
The September 10 notes say the next update "will be our transition to Unity 6" and that it is "releasing in November, which is just a little shift from our original aim of October". The October 7 notes repeat that Unity 6 "is scheduled for November" and promise details in an upcoming Development Preview. Everything further out, including the 1.0 date, is on the roadmap page.
