Sephiria Bosses: Every Boss by Floor and Chapter

Sephiria's boss roster works differently from most roguelites: the floors stay the same, the occupants change as your chapter advances. Floor 1 is always the Mole Stronghold, but who waits at the end of it depends on how far the story has gone. That is why "which boss is on floor 2" has no single answer.

Below is the mapping. Floor and chapter assignment comes from a community data compendium maintained against 1.0.25 and cross-checked against Steam's achievement list; where the two disagree we say so.

The DEF column is the honest measure of the difficulty curve. It roughly doubles between floors 2 and 3, and again between 3 and 4.

One change worth planning around: in Chapter 6 you no longer fight both Guardians of Qliphoth. Only Kovess or Kraz appears as the floor 5 boss, chosen at random.

Mini-bosses

Mini-bosses appear when a node carries the grey skull modifier, and they always drop an artifact.

Lerid started life as the Woodlands mini-boss before being promoted to a chapter-2 floor boss, which is why older guides list him in both roles.

Achievements tied to bosses

Steam's global unlock rates make an unusually clear difficulty curve, and they double as a spoiler-free progress check (rates re-read from the Steam global stats API on 13 August 2026 — they drift as new players buy in, so treat them as a snapshot):

AchievementConditionGlobal unlock

Hero's GuiseDefeat Qliphoth28.6%

Timing trap: Enlightened Scholar requires killing Askard while you are still in Chapter 1. Once Chapter 2 begins he is replaced by Mutated Askard, and from Chapter 3 by Askard's Phantom.

That Gatekeeper of the Mind wording — "the second Guardian Demon" — is the strongest available evidence that Kovess and Kraz are two distinct bosses rather than two translations of one name.

Boss tuning in the 1.0 window

We do not publish attack patterns. Nothing in the public record documents movesets reliably, and a wrong tell is worse than no information. What is on record is what TEAM HORAY changed:

  • 1.0 — Askard's floor-tentacle bullets became guardable from every direction; slam-pattern and laser warning indicators fixed. The Spinning Staff Demon's base patterns were eased, with the old harder patterns moved to Hard Mode. Qliphoth's hitboxes were eased and its projectile count reduced.
  • 1.0.21Final boss phase 1's radial bullet spread reduced; phase 2's "Pillar Summoner" minion HP cut by 33%.
  • 1.0.23 — Qliphoth: projectiles could enter the safe zone in certain situations.
  • 1.0.24 — the Halberd's attack range was invisible in multiplayer, which mattered most in boss fights.

Names you will see spelled wrong

Auto-generated wikis have propagated a set of corrupted names. The forms that appear in TEAM HORAY's own patch notes and achievement text are:

Where the chapters came from

Each chapter arrived as a content update, which is a useful way to understand how the roster grew:

  • Chapter 3 (0.8.3, Aug 2025) — 1 new boss, 1 new stage type, 8 new monster types
  • Chapter 4 (0.10.0, Dec 2025) — 2 new bosses, 6 new monster types, 3 achievements
  • Chapter 5 (0.11.0, Mar 2026) — 1 boss, 1 mid-boss, the Staff weapon
  • Chapter 6 (1.0, Jul 2026) — 2 bosses, 1 mini-boss, 3 achievements, and the game's ending

Chapters have numbers and nothing else. No first-party source gives them titles or themes, so if you see "Chapter 5: The Rooted Cave" somewhere, that name was invented.

Checked against 1.0.30

Boss changes since 1.0.25 are fixes rather than retunes. 1.0.26: the Chapter 6 final boss no longer stays invincible if it is stunned while teleporting, no longer freezes in place when stunned at the start of certain patterns, and the Give Up button works again after the fight; the Mole Mechanic mini-enemy no longer heals other Mechanics. 1.0.29 fixed a multiplayer freeze after a game over in Chapter 6. 1.0.30 gave Pentaxis, the Guardian of the Library, its own BGM — cosmetic, but a sign that chapter is still getting attention.

Unresolved

TEAM HORAY's 1.0 notes say Chapter 6 added one new mini-boss; community data lists three (the Fox, Lion and Mouse Afterimages). They may well be three variants of one entity, and we are not going to state a count. Chapter and floor assignment throughout this page is community-sourced, not first-party — it is the best record that exists, but it is not a developer statement.
