Key points

- Toothpick Purist unlocks the Golden Toothpick for good: 4 blocks at once, 40% faster.
- Golden Drill (49 Robux) lasts one game; the Diamond Drill pass is not on sale.
- Drone Buddy (299 Robux) adds a second drone to one you rent.

Escape Prison with a Toothpick starts you with a Toothpick, and the developer's description tells you to "Upgrade your tools." Better tools are bought with cash in the prison shop during a run. The official records name eight tools and helpers, from the Pencil to the Golden Drill. Some last "for the rest of this game"; others last "for good."
Which tools are named, and how long do they last?
| Tool or helper | How you get it | Lasts | Official wording |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toothpick | Named in the game title and description | Starting tool | Toothpick Purist: "Escape using ONLY the Toothpick - never hold another tool" |
| Pencil | Smuggler class | Each run you hold the class | "start with a Pencil" |
| Golden Toothpick | Toothpick Purist badge | For good | "digs 4 blocks at once, 40% faster" |
| Golden Drill | Developer product, 49 Robux | The rest of this game | "The best tool there is, in gold - huge holes, super fast" |
| Diamond Drill | Game pass, not for sale | Every game | "LIMITED TIME! Start every game with the crystal Diamond Drill - it digs big holes, fast." |
| Drone Buddy | Game pass, 299 Robux | Every game | "A drone that digs with you every game, on top of one you rent." |
| Cell Mate | Developer product, 10 Robux | 60 seconds | "scoops up and flushes all your dirt" |
| Golden Toilet | Royal Flush badge | For good | "flushes instantly" |
The game description promises an escape "with nothing but a Toothpick," and the Toothpick Purist wording shows you can normally hold other tools too. The prison shop's tool names below the Golden Drill are not listed in any official record. The badge guide has the full Toothpick Purist and Royal Flush requirements.
How do shop upgrades work?
The prison shop sells "the next tool or upgrade" for in-run cash (dollars). Five Robux products skip that wait for upgrades costing up to $60, $300, $1,500, $5,000, and "the biggest upgrades." So shop prices run from under $60 to above $5,000. Badge rewards make each run's shopping cheaper or faster: Window Shopper gives -10% shop prices, and five badges add +$25 or +$50 starting cash each. The Haggler class adds 15% off in the prison shop.
Window Shopper itself asks you to escape "without spending a single dollar," so you can escape without buying any upgrade. Compare the cash bonuses on the permanent bonuses page.
Which upgrades change digging speed and power?
Three passes in the official list describe permanent digging upgrades, but none is for sale. 2x Dig Speed says "Swing twice as fast with every tool - in every game, forever!" 2x Dig Power says "Every swing digs twice the blocks, with every tool." 3x Bag Size says "Your bag holds 3x as much dirt - in every game, forever!" Their records have no price. See game passes for sale status.
Badges add smaller, permanent boosts: +13% dig speed in total from four badges, and +40% bag space from three. The Tunnel Rat class lets you "dig bigger and carry 40% more."
How do you deal with the dirt?
Digging fills your bag with dirt, and Royal Flush counts bags you flush. The bag products and badges in the records all describe holding or flushing more dirt:
| Product | Listed Robux | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| x2 Backpack | 15 | "Your bag holds twice as much dirt for the rest of this game." |
| Infinite Bag | 29 | "Your bag never fills up for the rest of this game" |
| Cell Mate | 10 | Scoops up and flushes all your dirt for 60 seconds |
Royal Flush, which needs 250 bag flushes in one game, unlocks the Golden Toilet. More on dirt and inspections is in how to play.
What was in the Starter Pack?
The Starter Pack product record reads "A better tool, Hold to Dig and $100 to spend - a great start to your escape!" It is marked not for sale and has no price. It does not name the tool, and no official text explains how Hold to Dig differs from the default controls.
