How to Play Mitosis on Roblox: Split, Sell, Rebirth
Scope: Compiled from the official Mitosis game description, pass and developer-product descriptions and update events, checked on 22 October 2026.
Key points
- The loop is split cells, sell them for cash, buy upgrades, then rebirth for tokens.
- Rebirth gives tokens, and the description pairs rebirth with a giant skill tree.
- 28 mutations can be fused into mixes; mutation luck and split speed can be boosted.
- Store descriptions also reveal card runs, a laboratory that turns cells into atoms, and a daily wheel.

In Mitosis on Roblox you split your cells, sell them for cash and spend that cash on upgrades. Cells can mutate; there are 28 mutations that can be fused into mixes. You then rebirth for tokens; the description pairs rebirth with a giant skill tree. Cards, bosses, challenges and timed events sit on top of that loop.
What is the core loop?
The official Mitosis description lays out the loop in four steps. The table adds what the store descriptions reveal about each step, quoted from Fauna Studio's own wording.
| Step | Official description | What store descriptions add |
|---|---|---|
| Split | "Split Your Cells To Progress!" | Splitting has a cooldown; a Split Speed upgrade exists (2X Split Speed "stacks with the Split Speed upgrade") |
| Sell | "Sell Them For Cash & Buy Upgrades!" | 2X Money: "Every sell pays double"; VIP Bundle adds "+25% cash on every sell" |
| Mutate | "Discover 28 Mutations & Fuse Them Into Mixes!" | 2X Mutation Luck: "Mutations happen 2x as often" |
| Rebirth | "Rebirth For Tokens & Unlock A Giant Skill Tree!" | Token packs are priced in "a rebirth's worth of tokens" and say they "grow as you progress" |
The cosmetic descriptions say "ball" ("Ball accessory", "Your ball in ... WHITE"); they do not say whether a ball is the same thing as a cell.
How do upgrades and rebirth fit together?
In Mitosis, cash buys upgrades; rebirth gives tokens, and the description pairs rebirth with a giant skill tree without saying what the tokens are spent on. The official Update 1 notes (11 October 2026) say it added "Mutation Upgrades in the skill tree", and the Halloween Update (18 October 2026) added "New skill tree upgrades". Both official updates therefore extended the skill tree.
The developer has not published the tree's layout or the exact token formula. What can be read from the store is the scaling: cash products give "minutes of your best income" and token products give fractions or multiples of "a rebirth's worth", and both say they grow as you progress. The Robux shop page turns those labels into price-per-unit tables.
What are mutations and mixes?
The description promises 28 mutations that you can fuse into mixes, and the leaderboard line says "Flex Your Rarest Mutation!" The official Mitosis records do not list the 28 names or their effects; the mutations page collects the names, mixes and Rotten advice reported by fan wikis, with the source of each row. Two official levers affect Mitosis mutations:
- 2X Mutation Luck pass: mutations happen twice as often (see game passes).
- Mutation Upgrades in the skill tree, added in Update 1.
What else is there besides splitting?
| Feature | Where it is named | What the official text says |
|---|---|---|
| Challenges and bosses | Game description | "Beat Challenges, Bosses & Collect Powerful Cards!" |
| Card runs | Extra Card Slot pass | "One more card slot in card runs, for good" |
| Crates | Crate products | Cell, Mutant and Royal crates each "hold one exclusive card"; the Halloween Crate holds "one limited Halloween item: a card, skin, hat or effect"; odds are shown in the game |
| Events | Game description | Gold Rushes, Blood Moons, Meteor Showers "& more" |
| Laboratory | Lab Vial products | Vials let you "dissolve one more cell at once for more atoms"; vials stay after a rebirth |
| Daily wheel | Spin products | One description says "DAILY LOOT wheel", another "DAILY SPIN wheel" |
| Daily Rewards | Update 1 notes | Listed as a new feature on 11 October 2026 |
| Outside questline | Halloween Update notes | "New outside questline!" on 18 October 2026 |
| Leaderboards | Game description | "Climb The Leaderboards" |
The two daily-wheel descriptions use different names; they appear to describe one wheel, but the developer has not said so. The Lab Vial products are named "(6th)" and "(7th)", which implies the Mitosis laboratory already has at least five vials, though the base number is not stated.
A Gold Rush is also something you can receive: the Starter Pack description includes "a Gold Rush". Its exact effect is not described in the official records.
What should a new player do first?
The developer's description gives the order: split, sell, buy upgrades, then rebirth for tokens. It does not say at what point a rebirth becomes worthwhile, so that timing is left to you. Redeem the two official codes in the shop early, since they cost nothing. Paid boosts are optional; the pass page lists exactly what each one states.
The Mitosis badge list gives a rough sense of how far players get: about 514,500 accounts held the "Mitosis" badge on 22 October 2026, while 2 held "Completionist". Those counts are cumulative and are discussed on the badges page.
