How to Play Animal Daycare: What a Shift Asks of You
Scope: Official game description, Robux product descriptions and badge requirements from Roblox APIs on 2026-09-30; specific impostor tells and night threats are not officially published
Key points
- The developer describes caring for the children and preparing the daycare for nighttime, when mysterious events happen.
- Every arrival must be inspected, because some visitors may not be real children.
- Calm can be topped up: each snack in the official Lunchbox restores +15 Calm.
- You can play solo or with friends, up to 25 players per server.
In Animal Daycare (Anomaly) you work a daycare shift. Inspect each new arrival for suspicious clues and decide who may enter, because some visitors may not be real children. Then feed the children, play with them, keep them calm and prepare for night, when mysterious events begin. The goal is to finish the shift with every child safe.
That summary follows the developer's own description on Roblox line by line. Below, we set out what each part of the job means, which tools the game's store tells us exist, and which details the developer has not published yet.
What jobs does a shift give you?
The official description lists seven activities. We have kept the developer's wording in the first column and added only what other official data says about each one.
| Official activity | What the description says | Related official data |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect visitors using cameras | "Inspect every new arrival, search for suspicious clues, and decide who can enter." | — |
| Find hidden impostors | "Some visitors may not be real children." | Imposter Hunter badge: "Expose 25 imposters" |
| Prepare meals | "Feed the children" | — |
| Play mini-games | "Play with them" | — |
| Keep the children calm | "Keep them calm" | Lunchbox: "+15 Calm" per snack |
| Survive mysterious nighttime events | "Prepare the daycare for nighttime" | Water Gun: "scare away ghosts" |
| Play solo or with friends | — | 25 players per server |
The last line of the description sums up the win condition: "Can you complete your shift and keep every child safe?"
How do you decide who can enter?
The front desk comes first. The description tells you to inspect every new arrival, search for suspicious clues and use cameras to check visitors. The warning that "some visitors may not be real children" is the core of the game, and exposing them earns progress towards the Imposter Hunter badge.
What the developer does not publish is a list of clues. Which features give an impostor away is only shown in gameplay videos, and we have not yet confirmed those details ourselves, so we do not print them here. Treat the cameras as part of the inspection, not an optional extra: the description names them as the way to inspect visitors.
What tools does the daycare give you?
The store descriptions are the best official clue to how a shift works. Two products refill or replace something the daycare already has — the coffee and the Toy Hammer. Whether any of these items can also be obtained without Robux is not stated.
| Item | Official product text | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Lunchbox | "Contains 4 snacks. Each use restores +15 Calm." | Calm can be restored; whose Calm (yours or the children's) is not stated |
| Water Gun (20 Bullets) | "Use it to scare away ghosts and protect the daycare!" | Ghosts are a threat to the daycare |
| Restore Coffie | "Refill the coffee and make it available again." | The coffee can run out |
| Get Toy Hammer | "Toy Hammer taken or still recharging? Grab another one instantly" | A Toy Hammer can be taken or be on a recharge timer |
The product name "Restore Coffie" is spelled that way in the store. Prices for all of these are on the shop page.
What happens at night?
The description promises "mysterious nighttime events" and asks you to prepare the daycare before dark. The only threat named anywhere in official data is ghosts, in the Water Gun's description, and it does not say when they appear. Night is also where the badges measure progress: surviving the first night earns First Day on the Job, and surviving two earns Still Standing.
The official data stops there. Gameplay videos show several other night events, but until we can confirm them we would rather tell you they exist than guess how they work.
Can you play with friends?
Yes. "Play solo or with friends" is one of the seven listed activities, and a server holds up to 25 players. Two Robux products point the same way: Revive Yourself ("to continue playing with your friends") and Revive a Friend ("to continue the game together"). Their existence suggests a player can be put out of action during a game.
The experience contains a second place named "Daycare Shift" alongside the main one. Roblox lists it, but how players move from one to the other is not described, so we do not guess.
How do you know you are improving?
Badges are the only official milestones. After the first two nights, the next badges count shifts: Night Shift Veteran for 5 and Daycare Legend for 10. The description does not say whether a shift and a night are the same thing, so we keep the developer's words. The badge guide shows how few players reach 10.
What is still unconfirmed?
- The full list of impostor clues and which visitors to refuse.
- Every night event and how to counter it.
- The currency the in-game shop uses (the store calls it cash), the class list and what classes do.
- How many shifts the game has and whether it has an ending.
We will add pages for these once an official source or our own checks confirm them. For the developer, server size and content rating, see game info.
