Editorial Policy

Every page on LootWiki follows the same rules, whichever game it covers. These rules exist because a guide that guesses is worse than no guide: it costs readers real playtime.

Where facts come from

Facts are drawn, in order of preference, from: official store pages and developer announcements; platform data such as Steam achievement statistics; and our own play sessions in the current build of the game. Community sources (wikis, forum threads, videos) are treated as leads to verify, never as facts to republish. Item names, boss names, version numbers and quoted figures are copied character-for-character from their official source, not retyped from memory.

What we do when sources disagree

When two credible sources conflict — a store page and a patch note giving different numbers, for instance — we show the conflict and both origins rather than silently choosing one. If something cannot be verified at all, the page says so or the claim is left out. We do not publish placeholders that promise content not yet written.

Freshness

Games change under their guides. Pages record when they were last reviewed and the game version checked, and hubs revisit their coverage after significant patches. If you find a page contradicted by the current build, it is out of date — tell us and it moves to the front of the review queue.

Tools and authorship

We use software, including AI-assisted tooling, for drafting, translation and data wrangling. Responsibility stays human: verification against sources, testing in-game, and the decision to publish are made by the editor, and the editor answers for errors.

Corrections

Verified reader corrections are applied quickly, usually within a couple of days. Substantive changes update the page's review date so returning readers can see it moved.

Advertising separation

Advertising and affiliate arrangements have no influence on editorial content. Review verdicts, difficulty assessments and buy-or-skip recommendations would read the same with every ad removed.
